Life Update

Hey guys! Welcome back to another post! Sorry I didn’t post on Friday and that I am a day late on today's post, but today I have some good news! So yesterday I found out that I was one of the four winners of my county for an essay writing contest we had to enter for school. I am soooooo happy about this because, well, one I love winning (who doesn’t, though?!?!), and two because I won a $25 Amazon gift card! Even though the topic is pretty boring I thought that today I should share my essay, so here we go.

Why it is Important to Conserve Water

By:The Queen

Do you ever leave the water running while brushing your teeth? After all it’s just a little water, right? Wrong! According to the Environmental Protection Agency “Each American uses an average of 88 gallons of water a day at home.” That means in a family of five thats 440 gallons of water each day! That’s a lot of water especially because there are 7.53 billion people on the Earth according to Worldometers.com.

In 2020 we have already broken records for rainfall, so why should we conserve water? We need to conserve water so if there is a drought we are prepared. If another drought were to occur, we would have plenty of water if we conserve water now. According to LiveScience the worst droughts in the U.S occurred in the 1930’s. This time period was often referred to as the Dust Bowl or The Dirty Thirties. The Dust Bowl occured in the southern plains where the lack of water made crops blow away in large dust storms. Although the drought itself only lasted about a decade, the economic effects occurred for much longer.

Protecting Earth’s water levels isn't just about making sure we have enough water. It is also about making sure we don’t have too much water. If we were to increase Earth’s water levels by 50% the oceans would rise significantly and flood most of the Earth’s land. Some places could be submerged if this were to happen. The water vapor in the air would cause a massive climate change making it nearly impossible to survive. However if Earth’s water levels were to decrease by 50% desserts would expand and spread all over the world and it would become very dry and we would most likely be in constant drought. As mentioned before the temperatures would change, and it would be difficult for all living things to thrive. That is why it is crucial we keep Earth’s water levels how they are now and conserve water.

There are many negatives for not conserving water, but are there any positives? Yes! One of the positives is that you are saving money as well as the water. Another positive is the protection of  our 1% of easily accessed clean water.

Now you may be wondering about your role in water conservation. Some ways you can conserve water are by leaving a bucket in your shower while you shower to catch the extra water to use to water your garden. Other ways to conserve water include reducing shower time, reusing towels more than once,  and turning the faucet off while you brush your teeth.

As you can see it is of extreme importance to conserve what little water we have left. That is why you should do your part and do your best to help preserve and conserve the little bit of water we still have.

All About Sheepadoodles + Surprise

Hey guys and welcome back to my suspenseful blog! Today we are going to be talking about sheepadoodles (a super cute dog breed!!) and at the end I have an awesome, and I mean awesome surprise for everyone!!!!!!

Okay, so the first thing you need to know about sheepadoodles is what kind of dogs their parents are. Their parents are a Poodle and an Old English Sheepdog.

Now that you know who their parents are we need to know about some of the traits and characteristics of their parents. First up is the poodle. The poodle was originally bred as a hunting and retrieving dog in Germany, so as you may have guessed they are energetic. Poodles also are very popular not just because they are great hunting companions, but because they are fun and loving. There are actually three types of poodles, not just two (which is how many I thought there were). There is the standard poodle, miniature poodle, and the toy poodle. Next up we have the Old English Sheepdog. The Old English Sheepdog breed is a  very friendly, playful, intelligent dog breed. Similar to the poodle, the Old English Sheepdog is a herding dog. Unlike the poodle, the Old English Sheepdog breed is originally from England.

Next we need to know what kind of puppies you get when you mix the two together. When you mix the Old English Sheepdog and the Poodle you get a Sheepadoodle. Sheepadoodles inherited some amazing traits from both of their parents including being very smart, loving, and in some cases being hypoallergenic. Like the Old English Sheepdog the Sheepadoodle breed came from England.

Okay now that we have learned about these awesome creatures you probably want to know what the surprise is, so here goes. The surprise is…………………………………………..(LOUD DRUM ROLL!!!!!!!!!!)..............................WE ARE GETTING A SHEEPADOODLE PUPPY!!!!!!!!!! I am super, super, super excited to get him because I have wanted a puppy for sooooooooooooooooo long!!! We aren’t quite sure when we will get him yet, but we know we will get him in approximately 2-2 ⅕ weeks. We are going to name him Autzen (the Oregon Ducks football stadium name). The reason why we are naming him after the Oregon Ducks football stadium is because my older brother has loved them since he was very little. I will show y’all some photos as soon as we get him (even if it is in the middle of the week)!!!!!!!!!

Remember that all of your short stories are due next Wednesday, and the winner will be announced the following Friday. That’s all for today! Good bye!!!!

Three Super Easy Crafts to do at Home

Hey guys! Welcome back to yet another post! Today we are going to be writing about three super easy crafts to do at home. Before we get started I just have a quick little update on the writing contest, which is now a short story contest. Everything else is the same, and if you already wrote your book or started it that’s okay I will accept both.Remember that there may be a prize involved. Now let’s get on to it!

Okay so first we have a “pour painted pot”. To me this one looks super easy and super fun.

Next, we have a “colorful watercolor flower”. This one looks very pretty and makes me want to try it.

Lastly, I found a “crayon candle”. I have wanted to do these for so long. Funny story: last year I even got my friends to help me find broken crayons and peel them to make candles last year, but sadly I never ended up making the candles. I do still have the crayons though in a shoe box under my bed.

Well guys, that’s all for today! Hopefully in the near future I can do some of these crafts (and that terrarium I posted about recently)! There may be a surprise in one of the next few posts (hint hint!!!). I will see you next time! Good bye!!!

Next we have twice baked potatoes! I personally loved these the first time I had them (which was very recently)!

Lastly, we have sourdough bread. I really love this kind of bread, especially out of the oven!

That’s all for today! I can’t wait to see you next time! Good bye!

Earth Day

Hey guys! Happy late Earth Day! Today we are going to be talking about Earth Day.

Okay, so before we can really get into Earth Day, we need to know what it is. Earth Day is an annual celebration of our Earth. On Earth Day people from around the world do things like pick up trash, plant a tree, or make crafts with recycled materials.

Now that we know what Earth Day is about, we can start diving into the history of Earth Day.  Earth Day first began on April 22nd 1970 when Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin was upset because nobody was responding to an important issue in our environment.  He held a festival for our Earth, which is now known as Earth Day. This year we are celebrating 50 years of  Earth Day.

Now you may be wondering what projects you can do as a kid to help our Earth. Some projects you can do are make a terrarium, you could make a recycled tin can planter, maybe you could plant a tree, or you could just simply recycle.

I hope you enjoyed learning about Earth Day! If I make a terrarium I will be sure to share mine with you and tell you how it goes. Don’t forget to enter the writing contest (there may be a prize involved)! I will see you next time! Good bye!

Mad Libs

Hey guys and welcome back to another post! I am so sorry that I am a day late! I honestly just forgot to finish up the post and post it. So sorry, but thankfully I didn’t completely forget! Anyway today we are going to be doing some mad libs! So how it is going to work is I am going to ask someone  in my family or some friends the words that need to be filled in and I will tell you what they said.

Okay, first I asked one of my friends through text. This mad lib is supposed to be about vacation.  When my friend's story was finished it said “ A vacation is when you take a trip to some small place with your poor family. Usually you go to some place that is near a snow globe or up on a mascara. A good vacation is one where you can ride eyelash curlers ,play football, or go hunting for perfumes. I like to spend my time running or hopping. When parents go on vacation, they spend their time eating three purses a day. Fathers play golf and mothers sit around washing. Last summer, my little brother fell in a Yoda, and got a poisonous venus fly trap all over his arm. My family is going to the Sephora, and I will practice flying. Parents need vacations more than kids because parents are always very old and because they have to work 82 hours a day all year to make enough jackets to pay for vacation.

Next, I asked one of my family members the words that need to be filled in. This mad lib is supposed to be about our solar system. Her finished story said, “ When we look up into the sky on a spiffy summer night, we see millions of tiny spots of light. Each one represents a door which is the center of an horindes solar system with dozens of jump ropes revolving lovely around a distant sun. Sometimes these suns expand and begin popping their neighbors. Soon they will become so big, they will turn into feet. Eventually they subside and become mental giants or perhaps black boxes. Our own planet, which we call Meredith, circles around our zany sun 172 times every year. There are eight other planets in our solar system. They are named Debra, Beyoncé, Damarkus, Spencer, Margo, Totena, Jupiter, and Mars. Scientists who study these planets are called blankets."

For our third mad  lib I asked another friend. This one is about visiting the zoo. The finished story said “The zoo is a brave place to learn about different types of cars. There are calm animals and cool animals there. Some of the animals are as funny as a rock! There are baby sticks who were born six days ago, a petting zoo where you can feed the bears pizza, a smart pool where cats go swimming. There are blue and yellow dogs in the loud tire forest habitat, and you can watch the zookeepers feed the hyper snakes. The gift shop has ovens you can wear, pictures of pillows, and even snacks like soup so you can remember your day at the zoo.”

I thought these mad libs were pretty funny to read! I hope you thought so, too! For a fun activity you can get a family member and ask them the words for a funny short story to read. See you next time! Good bye!

My Easter Drawings

Hey guys! Welcome back and happy Easter! Sorry for not posting on Friday, but that was because I thought an Easter would be an even better day to post on! Today I decided (even though I am a terrible artist) that I am going to be drawing some Easter drawings! So how it will work is I will pick an Easter image and do my best to draw it.

Okay so first we have a basket of Easter eggs, but these eggs aren’t very colorful so I decided to color them in. I think my  drawing was pretty good for this one. What are your thoughts? Share your thoughts and drawing in the comments.

Original             Mine

Next we have our cute little chick. When I was in the process of drawing it I didn’t think it would turn out very well, but it is actually pretty cute.

Original          Mine

Last but not least we have our Easter egg. This one is not very complex, but is definitely a classic so I had to do it. I think this one turned out good as well.

Original         Mine

I hope this post brought you joy and something fun to read! I think my favorite drawing of mine is the Easter basket. Which is your favorite? Which one do you think matches the image best? Tell me down in the comments. I will see you next time! Good bye and happy Easter!

Exploring Yonkers, New York

Hola and welcome back! It has been a while since we last “explored” a city, so today I thought we should “explore” Yonkers, New York.

Yonkers was founded in 1646 by a man named Adriaen Van der Donck. Donck had come to the United States from Breda, Netherlands.

Some of the first residents in Yonkers were Native Americans from the tribes of Algonquin, Mohegan, and Manhattes. The people of Yonkers weren’t really known for anything until 1853 when Otis Elevator was one of the first pioneers in making elevators.

Nowadays in Yonkers some places you can visit are LegoLand, Tibbetts Brook Park, The Hudson River Museum, Untermyer Gardens, and Alpine Lookout. I also included some pictures in the extras.

Well, that’s all for today! I will see you next time! Good bye!

Top Five Kid Friendly Memes

Hello and welcome back! Today I am going to be showing five kid friendly memes because who doesn't need a good laugh right now? Of course all credit goes to the owners.

Number one just cracked me up. I am not sure why. Yes it is funny, but not as funny as how hard I laughed.

I am dedicating number two to all pet lovers out there! Nobody and I mean nobody can deny that the face of that puppy is anything short of adorable.

Number three is a perfect representation of what happens to me when I try to help with the dishes.

This one wasn’t super funny, but it reminded me of the characters on a show my family and I watch. Overall though it was kind of funny.

Lastly, we have number five. I am not quite sure what to say about this one except it is so me when doing online school because of Covid-19.

I hope y’all got a laugh out of these memes, I know I certainly did. If y'all want more of these posts in the future let me know in the comments! I will see you soon! Goodbye!

My Favorite Bible Verses

Hey guys! Sorry this isn’t my typical post (even though I am very unpredictable), but God just put this on my heart to post today. So today I am going to be writing about some of my favorite Bible verses (not that I don't adore them all).

Okay so the first one is John 3:16, one of my personal favorites. The verse says “For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”- John 3:16

The next one of my favorite Bible verses is Matthew 5:16.This verse states “Let your light shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your father who is in Heaven.”- Matthew 5:16

Next, we have Joshua 1:9. I love this verse so much because it really takes away any of my fears. The verse says “ Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not be dismayed for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”- Joshua 1:9

Okay that’s all for today I hope you enjoyed today's post as much as I did! I’ll see you on Friday! Goodbye!
